Leonora Parlour
Once you step into Aspire, you will find yourself in our reception room; the Leonora Parlour.
This space is open to everyone who is attending an event at Aspire House. Doubling as a quiet space during events and reception, it is also home to the Aspire Little Library as well as our Little Shop selling our books, vintage jewellery and even lipsticks where a percentage of all our sales go to UN Women., the United Nations entity for gender equality. Leonora is a versatile little room whose purpose is to provide a calming and tranquil environment for our Aspire community, when you want to take a minute out from the excitement of changing the world!
Our beautiful parlour is named after Leonora Cohen OBE, a trade unionist, suffragette and one of the first female magistrates in the UK.
She was a bodyguard to Emmeline Pankhurst and lived till the grand age of hundred and five years old.
We also love the fact that she was a vegetarian – interestingly, many suffragettes became vegetarian as it meant spending less time and money on cooking and more time and money on campaigning for women’s right to vote instead!
