Empowering women and girls through technology

In a world that yearns for positive change, we extended our hand to the Aspire community and asked for help. Our mission? To uncover those fearless initiatives boldly championing towards the goals of UN Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality.

What we discovered was nothing short of extraordinary: women of the Aspire community working with unwavering commitment for all women and girls around the world. They’re all working towards an equal world. Now, it’s your turn..

Next Tech Girls

Next Tech Girls

Set up in 2016, Next Tech Girls’ mission is to inspire today’s girls in education to become tomorrow’s women in technology. In 2022, just 26% of people working in the UK tech industry were women. We are working to tackle this underrepresentation at the grassroots level.

So far, we’ve engaged more than 3,400 girls (over 2,500 of them since October 2022) through events and work experience placements, to give them experience of a career in tech. Our ambition is to inspire 10,000 girls around the UK by the end of 2023, and 250,000 around the world by 2030.

We do this by:

  • Partnering with companies and educational institutions to deliver tech-focused events, workshops and work experience placements for teenage girls.
  • Inspiring and supporting girls and young women from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in tech.
  • Helping develop the confidence and skills of current women in tech who are part of our community of role models.
  • Building a sustainable pipeline of talent that will shape the future of the tech industry.

By providing girls with hands-on experience and insights into the opportunities available at a critical age, when studies show their interest tends to drop off, we are committed to shaping not only their futures but the future of the tech industry as well.
